Let's Buddy Up!
The first few steps into the sport of triathlon are big ones. We need to dive in and tackle big topics like training, equipment, race planning, and more. Getting some help and insights from someone who's been around the sport for awhile is super valuable and can help speed up the breaking-in process.
We have a Buddy Program at RTB. The buddies are team members that have been on Raise the Bar for awhile and understand the inner workings of the team - the communication, resources, and culture. They're also experienced triathletes and can be helpful sources of information about the awesome sport of triathlon. When we have a new member that would like a buddy to help them get settled in, our team wrangler, Carolyn, goes to work finding a good match - someone that shares some similarities in age, interests, location, etc. She'll reach out to each person individually first, and if she gets the green light, she'll introduce you to each other via email.
After you're all Buddied-up, what's next? The two of you will take it from there! The typical buddy timeframe is a couple of weeks to a couple of months. You choose how you'll communicate - email, text, FB - whatever works best for you. There's no expectation from us that you meet up - but we've certainly had buddies that have done that. Sometime buddies turn into good friends - others fondly drift apart when the new member is happily flying solo.
If you're a member of Raise the Bar, and are interested in Getting a Buddy or Being a Buddy - fill out the form below and Carolyn will get back to you with the next steps!
